EDDY OCAMPO

FOUNDING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

As a dancer, Mr. Ocampo has performed with Giordano Dance Chicago, River North Dance Company and has made numerous guest appearances with dance companies around the world. has been featured as a soloist in many ballets by world-renowned choreographers, including Gus Giordano, Nan Giordano, Randy Duncan, Lauri Stallings, Harrison McEldowney, Jeremy Plummer, Claire Bataille, Sherry Zunker, Michael Taylor, and Mia Michaels. Mr. Ocampo has appeared in movies, television shows, music videos, commercials, and on Broadway. He has worked with music artists such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Cher, and Madonna. Eddy served as an assistant to Gus Giordano, traveling with him as his teaching and choreography assistant. Eddy played an integral role in assisting Gus Giordano with his ballet, Le Fire Bird de Jazz, in which Eddy starred as the principal dancer opposite Kimberly Fletcher.

 

Internationally renowned contemporary choreographer and dance teacher, Mr. Ocampo has created ballets in Europe, Mexico, Canada, Russia, and throughout the U.S. He has been commissioned for theater, opera, and museum installations including premieres at the Landestheater Linz Austria, the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, South Coast Repertory in Southern California, and the St. Petersburg Institute for Contemporary Art in Russia. Eddy has also set choreography on various dance companies, including Giordano Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Thodos Dance Chicago, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Odyssey Dance Theatre (Salt Lake City), Kannon Dance (St. Petersburg, Russia and many regional ballet companies in the U.S. He has taught numerous artistic residencies at some of the most prestigious universities and colleges in United States, Europe, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, and Russia.

 

As dance educator and administrator, Mr. Ocampo served as the school director of the Giano Dance Center, the director of the Giordano Dance Center Scholarship Program, and as the rehearsal director of Giordano 2 from 2000-2004. He has also served as the Creek Ballet School Director and acted as the Artistic Director and Executive Director for the 2020-2021 seasons. He sits on many advisory boards for dance companies, arts organizations, and numerous LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations. Eddy served as the founding artistic for Forum Dance Theatre for 20 years, a world-renowned nonprofit preparatory training program for young and aspiring dancers in Libertyville, IL. Mr. Ocampo has received many national and international awards for his choreography, the Dance Chicago Outstanding Choreography Awards in 2003 and 200, the Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation Choreography Award in 2005 and 2007, the 2007 International Choreography Award at the World Jazz Dance Congress, the 2012 Recognition Award for Outstanding Choreography at the 2012 Festival de Danse in Montreal,, the National Choreography Recognition Award for Regional Dance America in 2012 and 2014, the 4 Argo High School Distinguished Alumni Recipient, and induction into the Filipino Hall of Fame in 2005 for his contributions to arts and dance communities.

 

Mr. Ocampo has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, The Sun Times, Windy City Times, The Chicago Reader, Gay Chicago, Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit Magazine, and numerous newspapers and publications around the world. Mr. Ocampo resides in Chicago and is the Co-Artistic Director of LEVELdance, a Chicago-based, site and design-based contemporary dance company. In addition to a successful dance career, Mr. Ocampo is the owner of Skin Care For Gents and Apothecary EO, two successful skincare clinics in Chicago, IL.
